"Son of Shoba, raised under the wing of Black Coffee — Influence carries a musical bloodline without parallel in Afro House. "Rise from the Darkness" is not just a debut. It is an arrival."

Mpiløza is not just an emerging name in Afro House — he is a generational bridge, carrying the DNA of a genre-defining legacy into a new chapter. The son of Shoba — a renowned and celebrated artist in his own right — and godson of Black Coffee, one of the most globally revered DJs and producers in African music history, Influence grew up immersed in the language of deep, soulful, hypnotic sound. Music is not something he discovered; it is something he inherited.

His debut single, "Rise from the Darkness" featuring Sundile, is not an introduction — it is a declaration. A sweeping, emotionally resonant track that blends the deep Afro House tradition with a forward-looking production sensibility, the single announces an artist who understands roots but refuses to be contained by them.

With the South African electronic music scene at an unprecedented global high, Influence steps forward at precisely the right moment. The hype is real, the pedigree is undeniable, and the music speaks for itself.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DJ INFLUENCE IS NOW MPILOZA REMIX OF CHART-TOPPING DEBUT “RISE FROM THE DARKNESS” DROPS FRIDAY, FEATURING NATIVE P

Johannesburg, South Africa September 3, 2026 DanceAfrika today announced that its young Afro House prodigy, formerly known as Influence, is stepping into a new chapter under a new name: Mpiloza. The rebrand arrives alongside the biggest release of his career to date a remix of his breakout single “Rise from the Darkness,” landing this Friday, September 4.
The original “Rise from the Darkness,” featuring Sundile, marked Mpiloza’s arrival as a serious new voice in Afro House. The track topped Black Coffee’s ID chart and was picked up across Beatport and major DSPs worldwide a striking debut for an artist still years away from adulthood, and unmistakable early proof of the “musical bloodline” he carries as the son of Shoba and godson of Black Coffee himself.
Now, with the “New Beginning. New Brand.” rebrand to Mpiloza, the artist returns to that breakout record reworking it alongside friend and collaborator Native P for a remix that pushes the original into new territory. Where the original announced his arrival, the remix is a statement of where he’s headed next.
“Rise from the Darkness (Remix)” ft. Sundile is available to presave now ahead of its Friday release:
